In November 2024, we had a permanent cross-curricular orienteering course set up in our school grounds. The children and staff have really enjoyed using it for a variety of subjects and topic themed days including, World Book Day, Science Week and Children In Need. It's been a fantastic tool to promote active learning, we have had a real buzz around school when utilising it.
We have had two experience days which were really successful. One was our launch day, and the other was our Science Week and electronic timer day. We invited our parents and carers to the latter and it was fantastic to see everybody joining in and being active!
Our school grounds are open to our wider community, and we would like the orienteering markers to be accessible too. In order to do this, we have created a box which contains the necessary recording sheets to complete when accessing the course. These include Animals, Flags, Anagrams, Maths, Exercise and Phonics. So please pop along, bring a pen, grab a map and choose an activity to complete. When you're finished just scan the QR code in the box to retrieve the answers. Have fun!
