Welcome to our Governors’ page!
The Governing Body has three core functions:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and direction
- Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance of staff
- Overseeing financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.

Our Governing Body consists of:
- 1 Local Authority Governor
- 2 Parent Governors
- 7 Foundation Governors (incl 1 Ex-Officio)
- 1 Staff Governor
- 1 Headteacher (Ex-Officio))
We currently have 1 parent governor vacancy and 2 Foundation governor vacancies. Please contact our Governance Professional, kellie.fricker@blackford.cumbria.sch.uk if you are interested in becoming a governor.
The Full Governing Body meet termly and the Resources Committee and Curriculum Committee (including Safeguarding) meet half termly.
Each committee has a clerk and a chair. The headteacher sits on both committees.
