Governance Professional (GP)
Job Description
Salary: BS3 £20,812 - £21,189 per annum
Hours: 10 – 12 hours per term
Due to the retirement of our long serving and dedicated clerk, the governors of Blackford CofE Primary School are seeking to appoint a governance professional, (previously known as ‘Clerk to the Governing Board').
The governance professional will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of governance, ensuring the Governing Board meets its statutory and regulatory requirements. The governance professional will advise on constitutional matters, duties and powers and work within the current legislative framework. Duties also include organising meetings and agendas, maintaining accurate minutes and enabling the smooth running and organisation of all aspects of governance.
The successful applicant will:
- Be an effective communicator with excellent organisational, written and interpersonal skills
- Contribute towards the efficient and effective functioning of the Governing Board
- Provide administrative and organisational support
- Provide advice on procedural matters relating to the operation of the Governing Board
- Understand the importance of confidentiality and integrity, adhering to the Nolan Principles
- Be sympathetic to and supportive of our Christian values and beliefs which lie at the heart of our Church school
Applicants must be able to attend a minimum of four Full Governing Board meetings across the academic year, and additional subcommittee meetings as required. Meetings are held in school and are arranged in advance with the Governing Board. Previous clerking experience is desirable, but not essential, as training and support will be provided, along
with an induction programme.
